Riding Lessons &/or Trail Rides

$40.00 /one hour per person

Western Riding Lessons

Emphasis for lessons is on safety, riding, horsemanship and proper care and tack/equipment usage. Lessons are hands-on and geared toward getting the student as independent as possible with the horse.

Getting Started:

All lessons begin with an evaluation of student.  An evaluation is performed to assess strengths and natural abilities. This lesson will determine a basic idea for a starting point with the student and will map out specific goals.  From this point, the student might stay with the instructor or move to another one who is geared towards the student's abilities.

NOTE:  Horses vary from lesson to lesson based upon numerous factors.  Students will gain more exposure and experience from the variety.

Beginners- basics of horsemanship to include safety, ground control, emergency stop, tacking and grooming, falling off exercises (instructor demonstrates it), and basic riding.  Beginner students advance when they can guide the horse and maintain a walk without stopping and then do the same at a  trot.  Only if the student proves to be safe and somewhat independent with the horse can the student move up.

Intermediate-  Within the intermediate level there are many different things to learn and fine tune.  From speed control, galloping, bareback riding and lead changing, etc. , this level helps to fine tune the student specifically.  The intermediate level teaches the student how to get down to serious business with their lessons.  Intermediate students will be asked to do things repetitively in order to gain form and style.  This is where a dedication level is revealed in each student.

Advanced- (This does not mean the rider is advanced.  It means the lessons are taken to a specific level.)

This level teaches certain types of horse show riding such as barrel racing, pole bending, western pleasure and other disciplines.  Students beginning this level of riding must have the ability to perform lead changes and gallop successfully at any speed all the while maintaining good form and control.

Trails are closed until April 2017.

Please note that everything is done BY APPOINTMENT only.

Please call us to schedule at least 48 hours in advance.

All horse activities are subject to change as per weather and ground conditions.

Riders must be 200 pounds or less and must  wear helmets and boots.

Helmets and boots can be provided.
